Made for Johan Van der Velde by Santini, this Ciclamino jersey was almost certainly made for post-Giro criteriums.

During the 1985 Giro D`Italia, Johan Van der Velde bravely rode to take the ciclamino points jersey (Classifica a punti Maglia) for his Vini Ricordi - Pinarello - Sidermec team from Urs Freuler and Francesco Moser despite not taking a single stage.

Riding with the Italian Champion Vittorio Algeri in the team line up, Van der Velde was the team`s best finisher in 22nd place overall and I believe this jersey (80% wool / 20% acrylic) was made by the team`s clothing supplier Santini for a post-Giro crit as the leaders jerseys of that time had white sleeves and were made by Castelli.
