Giorgio Andretta created a cycle clothing company in 1971 but only adopted the Giordana name in 1979 after his daughter. The now unmistakable Giordana logo (much like Castelli's Scorpion) was introduced a year later and is based on Sagittarius, the month of Giordana's birth month, to allow the brand to be easily identified on cycling clothing and team apparel.
One of my favourite and timeless jersey designs to come out of Giordana is that of the Motorola cycling team jersey and Giordana provided the team clothing exclusively from 1991 to 1996.
Like MOA, Giordana provide a 'white label' service to many other clothing manufacturers including Nike when they were sponsoring the Tour de France leaders jerseys.
If you wish to learn more about the Giordana brand's history, they have an excellent history section of their website dedicated to an in-deoth history of the brand which is well worth a look at.
